HELLO NEW YORK CITY...

I AM HERE!!!!!!!!!
TIMES SQUARE... A LOT LESS CROWDED AFTER 1:00AM... BEST TIME TO GO FOR A WALK!!!
we got caught!!! my friend Amy and I... it's hard not to, NYPD is EVERYWHERE!!!!!

WELL, WHAT CAN I SAY... I LOVED IT!!! IT REMINDED ME SO MUCH OF HOME (BUENOS AIRES)... THAT I GOT HOME SICK, AND NOW I'M MORE THAN READY TO GO VISIT MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN ARGENTINA.
BUENO, QUE PUEDO DECIR...AMO NUEVA YORK!!! ME RECORDO TANTO A MI HOGAR (BUENOS AIRES)... QUE ME DIO NOSTALGIA, Y AHORA ESTOY MAS QUE LISTA PARA IRME A VISITAR A MI FAMILIA Y AMIGOS EN ARGENTINA.

OK, SO... HOW DID WE GET SO LUCKY TO GO TO NEW YORK? I GUESS, I UNDERESTIMATED THE COMPANY DANNY'S WORKING FOR. HE'S BEEN WORKING WITH THIS COMPANY CALLED "SAVAGE" FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS, AND THEY HAVE AN ANNUAL "CORPORATE RETREAT FOR MANAGERS AND A GUEST". IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A CONFERENCE, AND THEY DO HAVE MEETINGS, ETC. FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES, BUT JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT, THAT COMBINED WITH A LITTLE OF FREE TIME, AND THE TOURS THEY HAD PLANNED MADE IT JUST GREAT!!!
WE, WERE IN NEW YORK FOR 3 DAYS, JUNE 18-20th, AND THEY PAID FOR EVERYTHING, AND HAD EVERYTHING PLANNED, WE HAD A BUS TOUR AROUND THE CITY. WE VISITED GROUND ZERO AND CENTRAL PARK, AND THEN HAD DINNER ON A BOAT TO SEE THE STATUE OF LIBERTY, BROOKLYN BRIDGE, AND OTHER SITES ON THE 18TH. ON THE 19TH, WE HAD A "SAVAGE BIG APPLE, GIVE", THERE WERE A BUNCH OF GROUPS WITH PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE U.S. AND CANADA (COMPANY EMPLOYEES), THAT HAD TO COME UP WITH A SERVICE PROJECT TO DO IN NEW YORK. OUR GROUP: WE BOUGHT A BUNCH OF TOYS AND TOOK THEM TO A CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN THE BRONX. IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE, AND EYE OPENING TO SOME. AFTER THAT WE HAD LUNCH "PIZZA" IN AN AREA CALLED "LITTLE ITALY", THE PIZZA WAS HUGE AND SO YUMMY!!!
LATER IN THE AFTERNOON THERE WAS A MEETING FOR EMPLOYEES, AND THE GUESTS HAD FREE TIME, SO I WENT TO "CHINA TOWN" WITH MY NEW FRIEND, DANIELLE, SHE'S FROM QUEBEC, HER HUSBAND WORKS FOR 'SAVAGE'. WE HAD A GREAT TIME TOGETHER RIDING THE SUBWAY, BARGAINING WITH THE MERCHANTS, ETC. IN THE EVENING THERE WAS A DINNER AT THE 'ROCKEFELLER CENTER' AND LATER WE WENT TO SEE 'THE LION KING' ON BROADWAY!! IT WAS GREAT, AND AN AWESOME PLAY. WE GOT TO RIDE THERE IN A "PEDI TAXI", BECAUSE WE WERE RUNNING LATE (WE WERE GOING TO WALK).
FRIDAY, THE 20TH, WENT REALLY FAST, WE HAD SOME TIME TO WALK AROUND TIMES SQUARE, AS EVERY NIGHT WE DID AFTER 11:00 PM, AND THEN THERE WAS A BIG MEETING AND DINNER IN THE HOTEL, WITH RECOGNITION FOR EMPLOYEES, ETC. THAT NIGHT, DANNY AND I WENT TO TIMES SQUARE TO GET OUR PORTRAIT DRAWN; I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A COOL THING TO HAVE TO REMIND US OF OUR TRIP TO NEW YORK. THEN, WE WALKED AROUND, AND ATE AT A LITTLE CAFE BY THE HOTEL UNTIL 2:30 AM, BECAUSE OUR SHUTTLE WAS PICKING US UP FROM THE HOTEL AT 3:30 TO TAKE US TO THE AIRPORT TO GET BACK TO SALT LAKE.
- ALL AND ALL, IN SPITE OF MISSING OUR LITTLE GUY, (WHOM WE KNEW WAS IN GREAT HANDS), WE HAD A GREAT TIME TOGETHER IN NEW YORK. IT CERTAINLY IS A VERY DIVERSE PLACE TO VISIT, THERE'S A LOT TO SEE, AND WE NEEDED AT LEAST TWO WEEKS TO SEE MORE OF IT. WE JUST GOT A GLIMPSE OF EVERYTHING IN OUR 3 DAYS THERE. BUT WE THROUGHLY ENJOYED IT.

BUENO, ENTONCES… ¿CÓMO CONSEGUIMOS SER TAN AFORTUNADOS DE IR A NUEVA YORK? NO CREI QUE LA COMPANIA PARA LA CUAL DANNY TRABAJA SERIA TAN BUENA. ÉL HA ESTADO TRABAJANDO CON ESTA COMPAÑÍA LLAMADA " SAVAGE" CERCA DE 4 MESES, Y ELLOS TENER UN " RETIRO ANUAL CORPORATIVO PARA los ENCARGADOS Y PARA UN INVITADO". ¡SUPUESTAMENTE ES UNA CONFERENCIA, Y TIENEN REUNIONES, etc. PARA SUS EMPLEADOS, PERO APENAS LA CANTIDAD CORRECTA, QUE COMBINADO CON UN POCO DE TIEMPO LIBRE, Y LOS VIAJES que HABÍAN PLANEADO. LO HISO GRANDIOSO!!! ESTUVIMOS EN NUEVA YORK POR 3 DÍAS, DEL 18-20 de junio, Y LA COMPANIA PAGO TODO, Y SE ENCARGO DE MANTENERNOS BIEN OCUPADOS. EL DIA 18 TUVIMOS UN VIAJE TURISTICO EN AUTOBÚS, FUIMOS A CAMINAR UN POQUITO EN "CENTRAL PARK", Y DESPUES DIMOS UN PASEITO EN UN BARCO PARA VER LA ESTATUA DE LA LIBERTAD Y EL PUENTE DE BROOKLYN. EL 19, TENÍAMOS "EL DIA DE 'DAR DE SAVAGE" , HABÍA UN MONTON DE GRUPOS CON LA GENTE DE TODOS LOS E.E.U.U.Y CANADÁ, QUE TUVIERON QUE TENER UN PROYECTO DE SERVICIO PARA HACER EN NUEVA YORK. NUESTRO GRUPO: COMPRAMOS UN MONTON DE JUGUETES Y LOS LLEVAMOS UN HOSPITAL DE NIÑOS EN EL BRONXS. FUE UNA GRAN EXPERIENCIA, ALGO INOLVIDABLE. DESPUÉS COMIMOS DE ALMUERZO, PIZZA, " EN UN ÁREA LLAMADA " PEQUENA ITALIA" , LA PIZZA ERA ENORME Y TAN DELICIOSA!!! MÁS ADELANTE POR LA TARDE HABÍA UNA REUNIÓN PARA LOS EMPLEADOS, Y LAS HUÉSPEDES TENÍAN TIEMPO LIBRE, ASÍ QUE FUI AL " CHINA TOWN" CON MI NUEVA AMIGA, DANIELA, ELLA es DE QUEBEC, SU MARIDO TRABAJA PARA “SAVAGE”. LA PASAMOS MUY BIEN JUNTAS, AL ANDAR EN SUBTERRÁNEO, NEGOCIANDO CON LOS CHINOS, ETC. POR LA TARDE HABIA UNA CENA EN EL “CENTRO DE ROCKEFELLER” Y FUIMOS MÁS ADELANTE A VER “EL REY LEÓN” EN BROADWAY!! FUE UNA OBRA GRANDE, E IMPRESIONANTE. Y VIAJAMOS HASTA ALLÍ EN "UN PEDI TAXI" , PORQUE DE LO CONTRARIO LLEGABAMOS TARDE AL TEATRO (ÍBAMOS A CAMINAR). EL VIERNES, 20 SE FUE REALMENTE RÁPIDO, TENÍAMOS CIERTO TIEMPO PARA CAMINAR ALREDEDOR DE "TIME SQUARE", COMO CADA NOCHE HICIMOS DESPUÉS de LAS 11:00 P.M., Y POR LA TARDE HABÍA UNA REUNIÓN Y UNA GRAN CENA EN EL HOTEL, CON EL RECONOCIMIENTO PARA LOS EMPLEADOS, etc. POR LA NOCHE, DANNY Y YO FUIMOS A TIME SQUARE PARA HACER QUE NOS DIBUJEN NUESTRO RETRATO; PENSÉ QUE SERÍA ALGO LINDO PARA TENER DE RECUERDO DE NUESTRO VIAJE A NUEVA YORK. DESPUES, DIMOS UN PAR DE VUELTAS, Y COMIMOS EN UN PEQUEÑO CAFÉ CERCA DEL HOTEL HASTA QUE LAS 2:30AM, PORQUE LA COMBI QUE NOS LLEVAVA AL AEROPUERTO NOS BUSCABA DEL HOTEL A LAS 3:30 AM PARA LLEVARNOS DE REGRESO A SALT LAKE. - EN FIN, A PESAR DE FALTARNOS NUESTRO PEQUEÑO DEREK, (QUIÉN SABÍAMOS ESTÁBA EN MUY BUENAS MANOS), LA PASAMOS SUPER BIEN EN NEW YORK. ES CIERTAMENTE UN LUGAR MUY DIVERSO PARA VISITAR, HAY MUCHO QUE VER, Y NECESITAMOS POR LO MENOS DOS SEMANAS PARA VER ALGO. SOLO LE DIMOS UNA OJEADA EN NUESTROS 3 DÍAS ALLÍ.

Playing inside and outside - Derek jugando adentro y afuera

Despues a banarse y jugar adentro.

We finally filled the sand box outside and he had a blast playing there with her sister Kira, but in the end he had sand everywhere possible. After taking a bath we played inside. I got him a little desk and a work bench with tools and he loves them both. He sits and scribles for a while and then goes to get the hammer and watch out!! He'll hammer you too, he's been "fixing" his play house, chairs, tables, doors, walls, etc. Thank goodness he's having lots of fun playing with his 'new' toys.

Mother's Day- El dia de la madre

Grandma was extremely surprised when she opened a mother's day gift from her four children, and spouses and kids, of course. She was really happy to see the statue of the Resurrected Savior she liked so much and said never in her life she would have thought she'll get it. When she opened the box tears came rolling down her checks. It was a very special gift, not just something she wanted, but something with a lot of meaning. It was a spiritual moment to see her looking at the image of our Savior, that can also remind her of the love and appreciation her children feel for her too.

Kira had her 16th birthday and we celebrated it with the family having her favorite dessert instead of cake: brownies with raspberry ice-cream. We had a really good time and after everybody left she stayed to play with her little brother, Derek.

Oh the joys of Spring.

Spring is finally here with its nice warm days here in Utah. Until recently the wheather has been crazy, one day snows and the next day is 80 degrees!!! but the last few days have been beautiful. The flowers and blooming, the grass is growing nice and green and the weeds... WELL, I better not mention them (they're driving us up the wall!!!.. there's an infinite number of them). But here are a few pictures so you can see how much we enjoy the outdoors, especially Derek, he loves chasing the birds or our cats, or playing with water and mud. And as for me, every day I enjoy more gardening. I've realized that I really enjoy gardening. I've started some veggies from seed inside the house because outside they would have frozen. I've germinated, lettuce, tomatoes, cantaloupe and watermelon. I love it!! It's fun and rewarding!!

Grandmas' birthday... 73 this year!!!

We had a wonderful time with the family, everyone enjoyed the Sunday dinner, and everybody but grandma enjoyed the cake (sad), but she can't have any for her diabetes.
